Much more than a room with a view,
Elves Manor is an entire house all your own, in St. Louis’ most urbane and cosmopolitan historic neighborhood.
As a 21st-century “alley house”
or latter-day “carriage house,” Elves Manor continues the St. Louis tradition of a dwelling built at the rear of the lot line, behind the main house ~ the main house in this case being a 1904 Tudor Revival cottage located within the West Pine-Laclede National Register Historic District.
Elves Manor
consists of two stories and approximately 1,200 square feet of living space. The house sleeps up to six, with two bedrooms, two full baths, and a second-floor sitting room. Rates are based upon how many beds are in use, and include an abundant vegetarian continental breakfast available in the house for you to serve when you like.
Constructed in 2001,
Elves Manor is available for nightly or weekly rentals and it’s all completely private. You have the entire house to yourself (with the exception of the basement garage, which has a separate entrance and which is used by the innkeeper for the storage of her gardening supplies and her family’s small fleet of bicycles).
Only two blocks west
of the main campus of St. Louis University and four blocks from the heart of the Central West End, Elves Manor is convenient to the best that St. Louis has to offer. Barnes Hospital and the Washington University Medical Center are just over a mile west, while the main Washington University campus is three miles away, on the west side of Forest Park. Busch Stadium, City Museum and the Gateway Arch are four miles directly east of the property.
Elves Manor
is in the Central West End, one of the Midwest’s outstanding rehabbed historic districts, full of opportunities for boutique shopping, eclectic dining, and architectural sightseeing. Right around the corner from Elves Manor is the Scottish Arms Pub, as well as excellent coffeehouses, a 24-hour supermarket, full-service pharmacy, office supply store, and other shopping quicker to walk to than to drive.
Elves Manor
is convenient to public transportation, by both bus and Metrolink, St. Louis’ highly-acclaimed light rail system.
After a long day of working or walking,
Elves Manor has a full-width cedar deck and a luxurious hot tub in which you can relax and contemplate this magical space within the heart of the city.
